NEWTOWN -- The Brian J. Silverlieb Animal Care and Control Center of Newtown on Old Farm Road plans to hold a grand opening ceremony at 4 p.m. Sunday.
This new facility for dogs and cats replaces the dog pound on Ethan Allen Road. It was built with town funds and fundraising by Canine Advocates of Newtown and many local businesses, individuals and children.
Silverlieb was a veterinarian in Newtown for 35 years, and died in 2011. He took care of the dogs at the pound for many years.
