DANBURY -- Fine weather did its part Saturday to help showcase more than 300 athletes who ran, jumped and threw during track and field competition at the Special Olympics Connecticut Northwest Regional Games.

Held at Danbury High School, these events were a qualifying round for the State Special Olympics Summer Games, scheduled for June 8-10 at Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven.

Special Olympics Connecticut says it provides training and competition for more than 13,000 adult and child athletes with intellectual disabilities, and their "unified partners," who are teammates who do not have disabilities.
