Cool Jazz by Jade comes to Newtown June 16

Music from Cool Jazz by Jade will be featured at a pre-Father's Day event at Congregation Adath Israel in Newtown on Saturday, June 16.

Jim Skinger, a guitarist from Goldens Bridge, N.Y,, is the leader of the group, which also includes keyboardist Doug Malfer, bassist Claude Preece and flutist/saxophonist Ericka Schlenkermann.

Organizer Rita Frost, of Newtown, said she is excited to bring Jade to town.

Asked about the band's name, Skinger said, "Jade is a precious stone and that is what I think of my musicians. To have this much talent in one ensemble is quite rare and precious."
