DUI arrests made in New Milford

NEW MILFORD -- A 25-year-old local woman was charged with drunken driving after her 2002 Oldsmobile Alero struck a parked pickup truck on Fort Hill Road.

Casey Matula, of Shepherd's Path, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs after police responded to a motor vehicle accident at 10:02 p.m. Monday, police said.

In addition, Matula was charged with making a restricted turn, operating or towing an unregistered motor vehicle, and insurance coverage fails to meet minimum coverage requirements.

She was released on $500 bond with a court date of Aug. 20 in Superior Court in Bantam.

A 46-year-old Danbury man was charged with drunken driving when police stopped his vehicle for erratic driving.

Joseph H. Castle Jr., of Wildman Street, was stopped Sunday at approximately 6:10 p.m. on Danbury Road near Faith Church after his 2005 Nissan Sentra was observed swerving on Bridge Street.

Officers determined Castle was intoxicated, police said. He was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, failure to drive right, operating a motor vehicle with a license refused or suspended, insurance coverage failing to meet minimum requirements and improper use of a marker, registration or license.

Castle was released on $500 bond with a court date of Aug. 13 in Superior Court in Bantam.

A 47-year-old local woman was arrested Monday on drunken driving charges related to an Aug. 1 accident, police said.

Denise Mantion, of Mountain View Drive, was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and following too closely after a police investigation into the accident.

The accident occurred at approximately 10 p.m. on Poplar Street, just north of the intersection with Elm Street, police said.

Mantion's 1998 green Ford Escort struck a 2002 Chevy Tahoe driven by John Daudelin, also of New Milford, police said.

Mantion was released on $750 bond with a court date of Aug. 13 at Superior Court in Bantam.
