BEDFORD, N.Y. -- A Danbury woman and two children were taken to Westchester Medical Center on Sunday morning after the Jeep she was driving ran off Interstate 684 and struck a tree, New York State Police said.
The driver, 39-year-old Celia C. Rodriguez, suffered head and chest trauma as a result of the 11:13 a.m. accident and was taken to the hospital by Stat Flight helicopter. She was listed in critical condition, police said.
The passengers, both male, ages 15 and 2, were taken to the same hospital by ambulance, police said. Their names and conditions were unavailable Sunday night.
Police said Rodriguez was driving south in the maroon, 2002 Jeep when she lost control. The vehicle turned on its side before hitting the tree, police said.
The accident remains under investigation, and police are asking anyone who witnessed it to contact the Cortlandt barracks at 914-277-3651.
