BETHEL -- A 32-year-old town man was charged with drunken driving Saturday after his vehicle nearly collided with a police cruiser, police said.
Stephen Radcliffe, of Hoyts Hill Road, was traveling north on Old Hawleyville Road at 1:19 a.m. when his vehicle nearly struck the cruiser traveling south, according to police.
Radcliffe was stopped, was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and failed field sobriety tests, police said.
He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to keep right. Radcliffe was released on a $100 cash bond with a court date of Aug. 23 in Superior Court in Danbury.
