CARMEL, N.Y. -- A Mahopac, N.Y., man was arrested on May 25 and accused of spraying his neighbor with pepper spray during a heated dispute, police said.

Officers were called to a home on Well Road about 11 a.m. because of a report of a "neighbor dispute" at the residence, according to a Carmel police news release.

When they arrived, they placed Eric Ronalds, 59, under arrest and charged him with third-degree assault for pepper-spraying his neighbor, the release said.

The victim, who was not identified, refused medical attention at the scene, police said.

Ronalds was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Town Court June 25.
