DANBURY -- Police on Sunday arrested a 24-year-old transient man after they say he tried to force his way into a stranger's house.
Freddie Chacon, who has no permanent address, was booked on burglary and trespassing charges, according to Danbury police spokesman Capt. Thomas Wendel.
Officers responded to a report of a kidnapping about 4:20 a.m. at a house on Park Avenue, Wendel said. The kidnapping report turned out to be unfounded, but they did find Chacon milling around the property, the spokesman said.
According to Wendel, it was possible that Chacon, who was apparently intoxicated, thought the house belonged to a friend.
He was charged with second-degree burglary, criminal attempt to commit second-degree burglary and two counts of second-degree criminal trespassing, police records show.
