NEW MILFORD -- A 46-year-old Danbury man was charged with drunken driving when police stopped his vehicle for erratic driving.

Joseph H. Castle Jr., of Wildman Street, was stopped Sunday at approximately 6:10 p.m. on Danbury Road near Faith Church after his 2005 Nissan Sentra was observed swerving on Bridge Street, police said.

Officers determined Castle was intoxicated, police said. He was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, failure to drive right, operating a motor vehicle with a license refused or suspended, insurance coverage failing to meet minimum requirements and improper use of a marker, registration or license.

Castle was released on $500 bond with a court date of Aug. 13 in Superior Court in Bantam.
