Woman charged in
stealing from mom
NEW MILFORD -- A 26-year-old local woman accused of stealing her mother's life savings from the family home was arrested on a warrant Thursday and charged with first-degree larceny, police said.
Jessica Almeida, of Carmen Hill Road, was arrested and charged with stealing some $71,000 from her mother in February, police said.
An accused accomplice, Michael Hammer, 38, was arrested on a warrant Aug. 4 and charged with the same crime, police said.
Bond for Almeida was set at $15,000 for an appearance in the state Superior Court in Bantam on Aug. 13.

charged in assault
DANBURY -- A city man was charged with second-degree assault after knocking a man unconscious in the bus station on Kennedy Avenue, police said.
Jason Joyner, 32, whose address is given as city streets, also was charged with breach of peace at 11:42 a.m. Friday and held on a $20,000 bond.
Police said Joyner punched a man and knocked him unconscious at 6:08 p.m. Thursday night at the bus station.
The man was admitted to the hospital for his injuries, and after a night in the hospital he was able on Friday morning to identify Joyner as his assailant, police said.
Woman charged
with larceny
NEW MILFORD -- A Danbury woman was arrested on a warrant Thursday and charged with third-degree larceny and third-degree forgery.
Ashley Phillips, 26, of Nabby Road, was found in Danbury and arrested on the warrant. She is accused of a theft and forgery stemming from an incident that occurred on July 8 on Sunny Valley Road in New Milford, police said.
No other details were available. Bond was set for $15,000 for an appearance in State Superior Court in Bantam on Aug. 20.
