DANBURY -- City police arrested a Stamford man early Monday morning in connection with a stabbing that sent two people to the hospital, officials said.

A Danbury Police Department spokesman said officers were dispatched to a residence on Crosby Street shortly after 1 a.m. Monday after the department had received reports of a group fight at a nearby parking lot.

When they arrived, officers found two victims, whose ages and identities were not released, with stab wounds, police said. The injuries were not considered life-threatening, according to police.

Ryan Naso, of Highland Trail in Stamford, was charged with the stabbings, police said. The 19-year-old faces charges of two counts of second-degree assault, second-degree criminal mischief and breach of peace, according to police.

The arrest occurred at about 1:12 a.m.

Police said that what started out as an exchange of words between Naso and the group escalated when he pulled out a knife. A scuffle ensued, and two members of the group were stabbed, police said.

It was not immediately clear what sparked the argument.

Naso was held on $75,000 bond, police records show, and was expected to be arraigned Monday in state Superior Court in Danbury.
