Brooks scores 48 points to lead Western to dramatic win

DANBURY -- Senior DaQuan Brooks scored a career-high 48 points to lead the Western Connecticut State men's basketball team to a come from behind 82-81 win in overtime over Little East Conference rival Eastern Connecticut Tuesday before a capacity crowd at Feldman Arena.

Senior Mark Redding also contributed eight points and nine rebounds on the night for Western.

In overtime, Brooks drove toward the basket and dished the ball to senior Gary Robinson for the winning layup as time expired.

Western improves to (18-4, 8-3) and moves into a tie with Eastern (17-5, 8-3) for second place in the conference, The Colonials return to action on Saturday when they host Little East Conference rival Keene State at 3 p.m.

DANBURY -- Sophomore Sciarra Brandt recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead Western to a 66-53 victory over Eastern..

Also scoring in double figures for Western was Little East Conference Rookie of the Week Caroline Brasa with 19 points. For Eastern (6-16, 2-9) freshman Shannon McCourt of New Fairfield led the offensive attack with 17 points.

Western (14-8, 6-5) returns to action on Saturday when they host Little East Conference rival Keene State at 1 p.m.
